The annual training of the CBHSSJB nurses working in the nine communities of Eeyou Istchee started last week and will continue this week (Nov 14-25). As every year, our nurses are attending important workshops to increase their knowledge in the health field and renew their certifications in trauma and emergency care. This year, there is also a special emphasis on collective prescriptions: cardiology, neurology, gastro-intestinal and dermatology. There are presentations and workshops in diapression (linking diabetes and depression), midwifery, tele-health, cultural safety and other important topics. The first week was very successful with this dynamic group of over sixty dedicated health professionals learning many new skills.
This picture features the first group (Nov 14-18). Nurses are divided in two groups, each taking their training in a different week. This is done in order to continue to provide essential health services to the population while these events take place.
