What is the Wîchihîwâuwin Helpline?

The Wîchihîwâuwin Helpline is a regional helpline offered by the CBHSSJB.  

It provides a safe and confidential space for people who need to talk on the phone about any difficult situations concerning their well-being.  

The service is offered in English and French.  

Cree speakers and traditional healers are also available upon request. 

It is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.  

More specifically, the helpline offers: 

  • Phone intervention (one-time)

  • Active listening

  • Risk assessment

  • Psychosocial crisis intervention

  • Fast referrals to community-based services (traditional healers, community workers, social workers, psychologists, therapists, NNADAP workers, etc)

  • Education and information about specialized resources (Homelessness, elder abuse, legal support, self-management tools, substance abuse, etc.)

Who is it for?

The Wîchihîwâuwin Helpline is offered to all persons in need of immediate emotional support, psychosocial crisis intervention or struggling with different forms of mental distress such as: 

  • feeling stressed, afraid, overwhelmed, sad or anxious
  • having difficulties in relationships or family situations
  • struggling with identity, grief, addiction, or transitions in life
  • dealing with past trauma or worried about the future
  • dealing with homelessness, or abuse

The helpline can also offer clinical support to local psychosocial workers, front line workers or other professionals dealing with clients.
