Renewal of Suicide Prevention Declaration

On September 12, 2018, on the occasion of the The Grand Council of the Crees Council Board Meeting and the 2nd Annual Regional Suicide Prevention Conference in Chisasibi, the Grand Chief and Chiefs of the nine Cree Nations of Eeyou Istchee renewed their commitment to the 2010 Shaakaashtiwaaau Declaration on Mamuu Apitishiishtitaau Pimaatisiiun.

By re-signing the Declaration, the leaders agree to continue to work together on a regional suicide prevention, intervention and postvention strategy and to support community initiatives. The Naakitiwaayititaau Pimaatisiiun “Let’s Take Care of Life” Regional Suicide Prevention Committee will continue to engage regional partners to renew their commitment to the Shaakaashtiwaaau Declaration.
