Update on planned return to communities for  dialysis patients from Mistissini, Oujé-Bougoumou and Waswanipi

Summary

The dialysis patients were evacuated last week from their communities to Montreal to assure patient safety and quality of care. This week, plans are being made to return patients in the safest way possible.

As the fires, winds, and likelihood of rain are changing every day, the Wiichihiituwin team hope for a safe return to the communities by the end of the week.

The team monitors the state of the fires on a daily basis as to finalize this plan. More information to come soon.

  • If lodging has to change this week, affected patients will be made aware as soon as possible.

The dialysis teams of McGill, Chibougamau and Mistissini want to thank all of our dialysis patients and their caregivers for their continued patience and support during this difficult time. We are glad to see that everyone is safe in Montreal and are looking forward to their safe return to their communities.

We appreciate your continued understanding as we work together to assure safe, optimal care for all our patients.
