Respiratory Etiquette

Tips to prevent the spread of respiratory infections at the CMC or hospital

  • Perform hand hygiene with the alcohol-based hand sanitizer upon arrival and departure, and when required.

  • Wear a mask if symptoms of respiratory infection are present, or if accompanying someone with symptoms of respiratory infection.

  • Cough or sneeze into a tissue or your elbow. Don’t touch your face.

  • Inform a healthcare provider upon arrival if you have symptoms of respiratory infection.

  • A designated area is provided in certain waiting rooms for individuals presenting symptoms of respiratory infection (e.g. Chisasibi Hospital, CMC).

Remain in this area with your mask on until you are called up.

  • Postpone your visit to a patient at the hospital or the Elder’s home if you have symptoms
