Medical Imaging Technicians Week: November 2-8
To highlight the incredible work of our medical imaging technologists, we are sharing a message from Marie Jacinthe Plouffe, the coordinator of clinical services.
This week, we proudly recognize the vital role of Medical Imaging Technologists within the Cree Board of Health and Social Services of James Bay and across Eeyou Istchee.
These professionals are essential to client care, as they capture diagnostic images, assist physicians with ultrasounds, and coordinate appointments to ensure timely access to services. Their work supports accurate diagnoses and helps clients receive the care they deserve, quickly and efficiently.
Our organization currently operates two medical imaging departments: one at the Regional Hospital in Chisasibi, serving coastal communities, and another in Mistissini. A third department is in development in Waskaganish, further expanding access to imaging services. We are fortunate to have permanent Medical Imaging Technologists, and 3 part-time team members specialized in ultrasounds, their work and dedication often happens behind the scenes but deserves to be recognized. We’re also excited to be mentoring a possible future student in Chisasibi who is pursuing a career in this field, an encouraging sign for the future of imaging services in our region.
In line with this year’s theme, “Technologists: Expertise That Inspires,”, let’s celebrate the skills, professionalism, and commitment of our imaging team.
Thank you to our imaging team, not just during this week of recognition, but every day, for the incredible work you do.
