In Canada, March 11, 2021 has been declared a national day of observance for those who died of COVID-19. It was on this day in 2020 that the pandemic was officially declared.

We invite all community members to observe one minute of silence at 1 pm precisely in honour of the victims of the pandemic.

Our local and regional partners across Eeyou Istchee will participate in the day of observance and the moment of silence; flags in the communities will be lowered to half staff. The Grand Chief Dr. Abel Bosum will be on regional radio JBCCS at 12:30.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, we have lost valued members of our communities, and many members of our Cree Health Board family have lost loved ones in Canada and other countries around the world.
