Food contaminated with Salmonella may not look or smell spoiled but can still make you sick. Common symptoms include fever, headache, vomiting, nausea, abdominal cramps, and diarrhea. Serious and sometimes fatal infections can occur in young children, pregnant people, the elderly, and those with weakened immune systems. Long-term complications such as severe arthritis are possible (recalls-rappels.canada.ca).
