Summary

The CBHSSJB Public Health Department has confirmed three (3) cases of COVID-19 affecting employees at a worksite in Wemindji. The cases were confirmed on Tuesday, October 26 through routine asymptomatic screening testing required by local and provincial workplace protocol.  

Content
  • Three workers who tested positive are now isolating on site under Public Health supervision.  

  • 40 workers at the site, including Cree employees, were sent home with instructions to isolate with their families according to COVID-19 preventive measures.  

  • The worksite is closed for the time being.  

  • All workers will be tested starting Wednesday, October 27.  

  • Contact tracing is underway.  

  • Wemindji has implemented additional temporary community measures to support contact tracing efforts.  

  • The CMC is operating with reduced services on Wednesday, and is open for emergencies only. 

Public Health will share any updates as new information is available. We thank everyone involved for their collaboration and cooperation with preventive measures required in this situation.
