Kristen Moar named Director of Youth Protection for Eeyou Istchee

The Cree Board of Health and Social Services of James Bay is happy to announce the nomination of Kristen Moar to the position of Director of Youth Protection for Eeyou Istchee. 

A member of the Cree Nation of Nemaska, Kristen Moar holds a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Criminology and Criminal Justice (Concentration in Law) from Carleton University and a Diploma in Community and Justice Services from Canadore College. She has certification in remediation and conflict resolution by the Canadian Institute for Conflict Resolution. She speaks Cree, English and French. 

Ms. Moar was formerly a community reintegration officer and CAVAC officer with the Cree Nation Government Department of Justice and Correctional Services, working with adults. She also has experience with children, youth and their families, having worked as a social emergency worker, youth protection worker, young offender worker and foster home worker for the CBHSSJB.

Kristen Moar is active in her community as a volunteer hockey manager and broomball coach, and she was the chairperson of the Nemaska Justice Committee, a school committee member, and vice-president of the Nemaska Local Women's Association. She was named Woman of the Year in Nemaska. Kristen pursued her education while raising her family and is a role model in Nemaska and throughout Eeyou Istchee.

Kristen Moar will assume her position on June 17, 2019. She succeeds Robert Auclair, who left the organization in April, 2019.
