This year will be remembered in Eeyou Istchee for the extraordinary challenges we faced as communities and as an organization. We worked with our colleagues and partners across the region to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic. Nurses have been on the forefront. They rose to the challenge by working tirelessly to ensure the safety and care of our population. We recognize that it has taken a toll.

However, our nurses’ passion, empathy and commitment to teamwork has persisted and has strengthened the duty of care that unites us in our mission. The Cree Health Board and the DPSQA-Health department are taking this opportunity to thank our nurses. Throughout this difficult time, nurses have nurtured and inspired those around them to stay strong, even as the pandemic has worn on.

As we look ahead, we encourage everyone to continue supporting our nurses, who have played a critical role keeping Eeyou Istchee healthy and safe.
