Appointment of Stephanie Gilpin as new Director of Youth Protection

The CBHSSJB is pleased to welcome Ms. Stephanie Gilpin as Director of Youth Protection, effective August 17, 2026.

Originally from Eastmain, Ms. Gilpin began her studies in General Arts and Science, specializing in Community Studies at Algonquin College, where she earned a place on the Dean’s List. She went on to complete programs in Child and Youth Care and Victimology, again achieving Dean’s List recognition, and received the Ruth Campbell Victimology Award for Leadership.

She later completed a Bachelor of Social Work at Carleton University and was admitted to the advanced standing Master of Social Work program, supported by a Teaching Assistantship, Research Assistantship, and Graduate Scholarship.

Ms. Gilpin is currently completing a field placement with an Indigenous research organization, where she is strengthening her ability to translate data into meaningful stories, an approach she values in supporting Cree communities to better understand and address the realities they face.

Until Ms. Gilpin starts he new position, Assistant Director Minnie Loon is serving as Director of Youth Protection from May 23 to August 16, 2026. Following her tenure as Director since August 2022, Ms. Taria Matoush resumed her role as Assistant Executive Director for the Department of Pimuhteheu on May 22, 2026. She will help ensure a smooth and thoughtful transition.

The CBHSSJB looks forward to warmly welcoming Ms. Gilpin. Her experience, leadership, and deep commitment to community will strengthen the care and support provided to youth, families, and communities.
