Protect yourself from smoke

In case of a forest fire, protect yourself from smoke:
• Don’t breathe deeply.
• Reduce your activity; try to avoid getting out of breath.
• In a car, keep car windows closed, and set the fan to re-circulate the inside air.
• Indoor air filtration devices with HEPA filters can reduce the levels of particles indoors.
This has been a public safety message from the Public Health Department of the Cree Health Board and this station.

Evacuation Planning

In case of a community evacuation due to a forest fire, plan ahead to protect yourself and your family:

Store at least a 3-day supply of drinking water and food that does not require refrigeration or cooking.

Store a portable battery or solar powered radio, flashlight, emergency cooking equipment, portable lanterns, first aid kit and batteries.

Have an escape plan so that all members of the family know how to get out of the house quickly and safely.

Have a back up plan so family members can contact each other in case they are separated during an evacuation.

This has been a public safety message from the Public Health Department of the Cree Health Board and this station.
