Physical trauma

Description

This 5-year research project aims to evaluate outcomes of severely injured Eeyou/Eenou trauma patients who arrive at the Montreal General Hospital’s Trauma Centre from Eeyou Istchee. The principal aim is to identify ways to improve trauma care and outcomes for patients in the region.

The Research Project is composed of 5 sub-projects:

  1. Identifying the burden of trauma in Eeyou Istchee

  2. Trauma in Eeyou Istchee: epidemiologic features, transfers and patient outcomes

  3. Trauma-related admissions to intensive care units in Quebec: the influence of Indigenous status on outcomes

  4. Air travel post chest tube insertion from trauma: A review of patients transferred from Northern Quebec

  5. Trauma Recidivism Rates in Northern Quebec.

Each sub-project will undergo four reviews: cultural safety, suitability, scientific and ethical.
