Crack has tested positive with fentanyl

An important public health notice has been issued regarding fentanyl detected in a crack sample recently purchased in Mistissini. You can download the official advisory below.
A recent test using fentanyl test strips confirmed that a crack sample contained fentanyl, a powerful synthetic opioid that significantly increases the risk of overdose when mixed with other street drugs. The official notice states:
“Crack has tested positive with fentanyl.” “It is believed that the substance was recently purchased in Mistissini.”
Anyone who has recently purchased crack in Mistissini is strongly encouraged not to use it and to dispose of it safely. At this time, the Mistissini CMC has not received any reports of opioid overdoses related to this situation.
Signs of an opioid overdose
- Person is unresponsive
- Slow or shallow breathing
- Gurgling or snoring sounds
- Cold, clammy, or bluish skin
- Extreme sleepiness or loss of consciousness
- Cyanosis (blue lips and nails)
- Miosis (pinpoint pupils)
What to do in an opioid overdose
- Call emergency services immediately for medical assistance
- Use Naloxone/NARCAN if you have one
- NARCAN nasal spray is available at the local CMC pharmacies for free.
- Do not use substances alone.
- Wait for the ambulance to come and do not leave the person.
