Waswanipi (population 2028) is the most southern Cree community, located near Highway 113 about 90 km west of Chibougamau.

The following services are available at Waswanipi: Walk-in Clinic, Awash (baby & child), Uschiniichisuu (youth), Chishaayiyuu (elders), Dental clinic, Blood tests, Pharmacy, Homecare, Nutritionist, Social services, and Multi-services day centre (MSDC), Women's Shelter. Patients requiring hospital services are usually referred to Chibougamau Hospital.
