This year marks the second year the CBHSSJB organizes a Mental Health Day training to raise the awareness and mental health knowledge of our front line workers on mental health issues. The ultimate goal of such a day is for our healthcare professionals to have an increased capacity to address the mental health needs of Eeyou Istchee population.
This event happened on June 7, 2019 at the Douglas Hall in Montreal and was hosted by the CIUSSS de l'Ouest-de l'lle-de-Montreal. Thanks to modern technology: some employees loacated in Eeyou Istchee were also able to attend by video conference.
This year, the main topic was “Trauma Informed Care”. The principal talk was given by a guest psychiatrist, Dr. Zoe Thomas, who is specialized in trauma informed care. The CPDP collaborated closely with the Niishiyuu department in order to have a Cree cultural approach to trauma informed care as an intrinsic part of this important training
