Abstract

This study examines food intake of schoolchildren, identifies factors influencing eating habits and uses the Body Mass Index in association with these behaviours. Results indicate that children aged 9 to 11 eat better than adolescents, do more physical exercise and watch less television. Obese subjects (BMI > 90th percentile) eat a less balanced diet, do less physical exercise, and spend more hours watching television than do non-obese subjects.
